1. Conservation of rice landraces of West Bengal.

West Bengal is a home land of thousands of traditional rice cultivars. But the unfortunate aspect is that due to various reasons these important varieties were lost from our agricultural system. The varieties which still exist are also in a state of extinction. Our main aim is to conserve and protect these native varieties not only to maintain the agrodiversity of West Bengal rather to protect the traditional culture of West Bengal which are closely associated with this farming practice.

We are currently conserving more than 250 traditional rice varieties in our conservation farm and maintaining the genetic diversity of these varieties.
